I intend to use full roller rockers on my vortech head 350. It has a Schneider Cam solid lifter 480 lift. I will be using self aligning style. Any preference?
Harland Sharp, Comp, Crane or???
Many thanks

No its just a solid lifter flat tappet cam, however I thought since I need to change to the poly lock style of rocker arm nuts I would go ahead and get a full set of roller bearing rocker arms and change it all at the same time.
I would use comp cams pro magnum steel rockers. I have a set of aluminum rockers on my chevelle that have worked great, but I heard you should change them every 30,000. I have also heard of aluminum rockers breaking.
Your advice follows my inclinations. Comp advertises no breakage as well as the ability to rebuild. I prefer to keep the valvetrain the same brand as I am using the comp beehive springs and retainers.
Many thanks and merry Christmas

Don't believe you can run a self aligning rocker with a soild cam,
lash clearance between the valve stem and roller tip.
I've got ProComp billet aluminum full roller rockers, they've seen 6500 rpm many times. No problems yet, althoguh I am running stud girdles.
See I originally thought he was saying he was using solid roller lifters, and didn't see he was asking about roller rockers. I had just not thought that sold roller lifters would be good for a street motor, and I was just confused about what he had and mixed up lifters and rockers.
i would recommend crane gold line or crane silver line roller rockers.i like the comp cams rollers as a second choice. im using guide plates and non self aligning rockers. i originally had the gold self aligning rockers but because i have a decent cam with heavyish springs they were kicking to the sides a bit from the spring pressure. i was scared the pushrods may spit out at high revs ..
i ended up just using the comp cam guide plates (flat style.. i wouldnt use the step up/ Z plate style because they did interfere with the bottom of the rocker as it rocks on my package) with the silver line crane roller rockers. i found the silver line have more space under the belly than the gold line so you can have clearance on the stud.from trial and error i learnt it is very hard to get rocker, pushrod geometry and everything else correct unless you have done it before...with a roller cam anyway.
here is a picture when i was installing the crane gold line rockers. as they didnt suit my application i was lucky my mate had a set of new silverline rockers which did..and he was more than happy to swap me as he got the better rockers.

Oh, I thought you were saying that you didn't see any benefit to using solid roller lifters.
