I'm about to embark on this install of new lower door weatherstripping Santa brought me for Xmas. I never re-installed after painting the car 5+ years ago. Any tricks to this?? Any insightfull experiences you wish to share?? Should I worry about the color of the adhesive?? Thanks in advance.
Use the black and make sure to have plenty of blue tape to hold it in place. Also pick a can of that weatherstripping glue remover. You will make a mess and this will help you clean it up. One it dries for a day, silicone it and try closing the door. Adjust as needed. I would leave the door closed for a day or two.

Ditto - For old glue removal I tried WD-40, Denatured Alcohol, terpentine, fingernail polish remover and after fuming myself into lala land I bought the 3M Glue removal from AutoZone. Lots of tape as I had trouble keeping it in place. It was cold when I did it so that may have had something to do with it. Was more trouble getting the old glue off and cleaning up the door jambs.
