Default rear crossmember cushions

the body is off and the front suspension work underway. Looking over the rear suspension and beginning to get a list of parts. I am sure the rear crossmsmber rubber bushings are rotten! I have looked up several suppliers and have noticed that these items are expensive (approx. 80.00 ea. Should I replace them or let them go?? Thanks

Take one out at a time and check them, I replaced mine years ago on my 67 and really didn't need to, I would bet yours are ok too. Good luck. :blueangel:

How sure are you that they are rotted? Mine are ok  or seem to be, $160 is one that I passed on and bought something else. Have not heard of many people replacing them. These are somewhat protected from the environment and not as likely to decompose as other bushings. If the rubber is hard, crusty, cracked or has chunks out of it I would say replace them otherwise they are probably still good. Good luck with your project.

Hi Phil,

I took my crossmember out this summer. Those bushings are tough -- as you will find out when you unbolt the thing and it doesn't move! I had to pry mine out with the longest crowbar on Earth.

Make sure you put in the those aluminum support disks from VBP. I'm not sure how much support they provide, but they look

I agree with the others... Check'em thoroughly and make sure a replacement is really necessary. On my car all the bushings and body mount cushions are/were in pretty sorrow shape, but the crossmember cushions are perfect!

Yep... Me too... I replaced mine 'cause I had 'em and had the rear cross member out... I didn't need to. They were in good shape. I'd check them out before shelling out the dough, if I had it to do over again.

I purchased mine thinking i needed to replace because every other piece of rubber on the suspension was GONE!! but to my suprise they were the only rubber that was in perfect shape. so zip was kind enough to take them back and give me full credit!!
