Wire wheel everything till it's bare. Apply Por-15, let it cure, depending on type of window sealer used, apply a top coat of a sealer primer, and then the new window can go in for many years of rust free trouble.
Edit: Added mention of sealant primer in case Butyl is not used. (Hadn't thought that a non-butyl sealer would be used.)

Hand on a sec, cleaning the frame, and filling anny holes is a good start.....
Howver I would not use por 15 without a primer over it here uless you were sure to use the old style Buytl (sp) window sealer.
The newer style epoxy sealers require a specific type of primer to bond to, anything else and youll lose the windshield for sure, I'll have to look up the name of the stuff i used and post later, but any good winshield repair shop can tell you.
Edited: because SIXFOOTER made an excellent point

thats exactly what he is saying D, the por 15 when cured creates a surface that the window sealers can not bond to, ( though I think buytl could stick to anything). Unlike other muscle cars that use a rubber seal to hold the windshield in place, the corvette windshield is bonded to the frame, if this bond is weak due to the surface not being prepped right, the windshield will leak at best, and come free at worst. Also you must be sure that the edge of the windshield where the sealer will go has been cleaned and preped as well .
for the windshield frame, after cleaning, I used this stuff as a primer to ensure a proper bond between the windshield and the frame using a eurothane sealer
you need to top coat the POR15, then put the glass back in

Very good advice. The Por-15 does need to the top coated or primer coated to the seal to stick properly. With this advice in prep that window frame will never have a problem again and the window will have a good to seal.
I top coated the POR15 also. Most glass installers use a primerless urethane to set the windshield. Just be aware if you use the urethane. have nice tall bead. If you don't the glass will be lower than widshield revel moulding. The replacement glass is Thinner than the original. So "you or the installer" needs to pay attention when setting the glass.

there is a trim removal tool you use. you slide it under the trim move it to left or right till you cath the tad, and then sort of pull lift twist till that tab pops free. after the tfirst few you get the hang of it

yes it will, the pillar post mouldings have to come off, and you can just open the wiper door, atleast i didnt take mine off, though i did tape the blades to the door to get them out of the way
