Default First mods for a 78 L48

OK my vette is mostly stock. The engine was rebuild about 4 yrs ago and the only item not OEM spec is a mild cam. I later added a 2.5 custom mandrel bend exhaust.

Now like most gear heads I want this car to run faster then it is doing now, so I'm thinking a new carb with a better flowing intake. Any suggestions?

Believe most folks here will recommend a good dual plane intake that will fit under the hood.....My Weiand "Action Plus" is one example as is an Edelbrock "Performer". An Edelbrock "RPM" series is a bit too tall.....Or if you're serious you can get a set of Chevy Vortec Heads and Vortec Intake, and if you're VERY serious, well the only thing holdin' you back is the size of your wallet!!! :jester

So with these few mods what can I realistically expect to see at the drag strip? I'd love to beat up on the local 5.0's.

My father owns a 88 that will whip the holy crap out of about any 5.0, the problem is all though its far from stock and way more advanced then my 78, I feel MUCH more money will be required before I can subject the same treatment to the "other" pony car.

Would recommend good heads and headers and a decent (3.55, 3.73, or so) rear end if you're serious abt the 5.0's, and prob a higher stall converter.....that oughta do it.

I have a L48....errr...had...it would spank a L88 now..est. 400 ponies....
check my page for my add-ons...
above post has a good info....if performer go with the performer/air gap.
works like a single plane and dual plane.
my first mods if i were in your shoes would be
-headers
-dual exhaust (remove cats if laws permit)
-then intake
-tweak carb (LARS style)
-then heads
-then cam/lifters and a gear drive or double roller
-then match the rear end gears with setup and a stall to boot.
(with above you would be now taking on bigger fish than 5.0's) :D

$0.02 cents.....
my web page has my specs and engine specs and dyno (rainman69 credits here) also i went RPM/air gap due to my hood...so stick with performer/air gap if u go edelbrock...weiand is also a very good intake.
