Default Fuel Injection computer location

OK, I got all the AC crap off of the firewall, and I think I know where I'm going to drill a 2" hole to run the harness, but where should I mount the computer? I was going to mount it in the glove box, but now I'm thinking under the carpet up against the trans tunnel in the passenger footwell. Where did all of you fuel injection converts mount your computers? Mine is the Holley Commander 950 and is about 9"x6"x2".

My 82 has it's computer mounted in the battery compartment, on the vertical wall right behind the drivers seat. Not sure if yours will fit there, but it's out of the way and you can run the harness along the trans tunnel the same way mine is.
Good luck,
Dave

My 82 originally had it in the batter compartment as well. Even though I pulled all my 82 stuff out and used a completely new harness I ended up keeping that location when I did my TPI swap.

I guess I could use the storage compartments behind the passenger seat, or I could mount it behind the passenger seat. But the passenger would have to give up about 2" leg room, and my wife is kinda tall. I didn't think she would mind the cramped footwell on the rare ocasion she rides. For some reason, I only considered places near the firewall and engine compartment. If I put it back there, I wouldn't have to drill a 2" hole in the firewall. This unit does come with a pretty long harness. I'll measure today. I just need the computer port in the passenger compartment for the lap top.

BJ, first off, the wires shouldn't form a bundle larger then your thumb is that big....that's only a 1" hole, and most of that will be filled with pipe insulation wrap from Lowes Depot.....

the computer I have is an old GM 1227730 and i'ts hung from the cowling up high and behind the map pocket...car is a '72...it should work with the later sharks too, if not, maybe have to mod the glove box liner....I found a hole location in the notch between a/c ducting inside, but it's plenty of clearance for the wires, and engine wise, it's below and just to the pass side of the dizzy....on a SBC, that is....

The wire loom is only about 1", but the connector for the harness needs a 2" hole to slip thru. I just came back from the garage. I think I can make the storage box behind the passenger seat work. I need to get the car up on the lift to see where I would run the harness. Probably out the box, and along the right frame rail. At least the +12 volt power run will be very short.
