I want to change the face on a speedometer. Does anyone know how the needle comes off ? I have'nt tried yet because I don't want to wreck either one, as they are bothh good speedometers.... Thanks
Just rebiult my 68' speedo and I gently twisted the needle backwards while pulling up to release it from the shaft. This one had me baffled as well and I even posted last week with no replies. I just did this work on Saturday and test drove it today and it works great.

They're usually pressed on and will pull off with light/moderate force.
Best to pull straight up from beneath the center point closest to the pin. This is best accomplished using a flat tool that will slide under both sides of the center. A plain fork works well. Don't pry against the gauge face but gently pull up on the needle.
