Is it nessasary to bench bleed a master cyl. when you are starting from scratch? I. E. new cyl. lines, and calipers? It seems that since your going to be purging the whole system you might just as well do the whole thing at once. But I'm not sure. I'm leaning twards silicone fluid , if that makes a difference. Thanks...Ron
If changing the master cylinder, then yes, bench bleed. Bench bleeding is a way to evacuate air from the master cylinder because you are able to bleed it in a horizontal position, which is not possible when installed in the vehicle.
If changing lines and calipers and the master cylinder has not been drained then you should be fine just bleeding the whole system without bench bleeding the master cylinder.
Sorry I did'nt make it clear the master cylinder is new also . The entire braking system. I changed over to manual from power, so I'm starting from scratch
def bench bleed the M/C, with the recirulation method, stay away from silicon fluid,, too many negitives and too hard to change back. go with some synthetic valvoline dot 4, same as dot 3, only higher boiling point, and lasts longer.
