Default Pressure washing greasy frames?

The front of my frame is very greasy. I have to remove the grease prior to rust removal. I am looking for the best/fastest way to do this.
Does pressure washing work?
If so what solvent or other degreasers can you run through the pressure washer to expedite the process?

I figured I would ask before I go rent one for $40.

Sodium hydroxide. Very caustic.

I would spray the areas you are cleaning with a general degreaser found at any auto part stores. After application, I would brush the areas and then probably spray it again and let it soak a while. Then I would use a pressure cleaner. However, I would go to a car wash to do this unless you want a mess in your drive way. Also, a car wash would end up being much cheaper. Good luck!

a pressure washer wont help. to do a really good job (and easy) you need a steam cleaner. usually they run off kerosene or diesel and you can find them at an equipment rental place. check out this site to see what i am talking about - http://www.rentrain.com/qerentals/product.php?id=20184

Don't be afraid to try simple green along with your steam cleaner or pressure washer. That stuff has suprised me on several occasions.

I would use a hot hi pressure washer. The steam cleaners a large and not easy to see what you are doing. You can also ask for a soap injector that will mix with the hot water. I have been in the tool rental bussness for 35 year and we recomend this when ever there is grease and oil.

I use a 3500psi pressure cleaner and a degreaser, Simple green, Purple power etc.
Apply the degreaser with body shutz gun, liberally, then use the pressure washer. Might need several applications.
The normal wands for pressure cleaners are too long, so I have a separate one that is only a few inches long for all the hard to reach places.
BE CAREFULL, the pressure will cut thru your clothes and deep under your skin, if the gun gets away from you.

Similar gun at Harbor Freight for around 10 bucks.

Go to Walmart or an auto parts store and pick up a gallon of Super Clean. Soak the chassis and what ever else your looking to clean and let it soak for 15 minutes or so and then hit it with your pressure washer. I did it this way on mine and it came out really clean. Be careful and wear eye protection, keep your skin covered and stay up wind of what ever chemicals you decide to use.

When I did mine I have my own pressure washer and plugged it into the hot water coming from my hot water tank. You will be amazed on how much will come off with just hot water and high pressure worked great and took dirt oil and grease right down to the fram. Painted and still looks great 2 years later.

best regards
