he rebuilds and tunes q-jet carbs, im sure he can do other stuff but thats what he's known for, do a search. as for mpg, that doesnt really matter a whole lot unless your vette is your daily driver, mine gets about 13 mpg on the highway going 10mph under, im not really worried about it though.

Hmmm... 2 grand you say? Assuming your carb is OK, I'd do it this way - $900 for good heads, 500 for exhaust (go for painted), 300 intake (performer or similar), and the rest for cam and misc. You'll double your hp...

Everybody is jumping on the engine....YES....It NEEDS HELP.
Vortec heads are 450.00 NEW for the pair, look in the back of Car Craft and you will see the ad from JIM PACE GM dealer.Performer intake for the Vortec is under 200.00,Keep the Q-jet if it's healthy,Headers are 189.00 from Jegs,Duals are apppx 300 mail order from Jegs,FEL-PRO gasket set,70.00.
Add in a 2200 rpm converter and it will really jump off the line,250.00 or less if you can install it yourself.
I am at this stage with my 406 and these prices are real world and current as of December when I got my stuff.
