Default 76 wipers (no high speed)

Hello all,,,,,On my '76 wipers work OK slow but not on fast speed..Changed out wiper switch after I metered it and same results with new switch..(meters same by the way)...I changed out wiper transmission that was busted and arm (which came with it)...Wiper motor seem to work on high setting with no arms attached to it...Any help always appreciated...Pete

Yeah, I was thinking of the relay also.

I don't know if the '76 had a relay. On my '82 it's behind the passenger seat in the jack compartment.

Problem is they don't make that part anymore. You have to have it rebuilt.

Looking at the internal schematic of the wiper motor, there are a few resistors that can go bad. Wilcox posted their wiper motor test schematic a few weeks ago.

In case you need to change it out, here is an example.

I don't know if it helps at this point, but I had a similar problem with my 76. It turned out to be a lousy ground to the wiper switch mount. I ran a separate ground wire and they work fine now. Hope this helps!
