DIY front coilovers.
Hi Corvette-friends,
I'm considering to make a front-end coilover convertion with QA1's on my car, like "SCHMUCKER" did some years ago. You can see one of his post about the subject here:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ight=coilovers
I have tried to contact "SCHMUCKER" to hear what QA1 dampers he used in his project, but unfortunatly he is not active on the forum anymore.
Looking in the arcive I found out that he was using some 10" long springs in the front and on the rear he used QA1 #DR4855B dampers.
Does any of you know if he used the same dampers on the front?
Best regards, DK.

Hi Rick B,
Thanks for your input. I have also been considering the semi-coil-over you are suggestion but I would really prefer to go for a full solution with the benefits it gives.
If money was no problem I would go for the Van Steel solution but I can’t seem to find the 2K for it. With a DIY solution I hope I can make my own for less than 1/3 of the price.
I think that SCHMUSKER were using the same dampers front and rear but I'm not sure. I'm really hoping some of you can help me out here.
Thanks and best regards, DK.

Hope this works for you:
Failing this you could also go to the DC (the dark side) and put out a shout for Smuck. He regularly got involved with the infamous dozen.

Works fine on mine. It is 8-9 threads started by Smucker all related to coil-over. I can't explain why the link works on mine and not yours.
You could also try to cut and paste the link to your browser.

OK. Try this!
Pull up your link to Smucker.
Left click - his name (Smucker)
Left click - View Public Profile
Left click - Find all threads started by Smucker
Search comes up empty - that's OK
Type in search keyword - (coil-over)
Select - Archives
Select - C3 Corvette 1968-1982
Select - Search Now
This will give you a list of his threads.

Thanks Dannyman,
I went through most of Smuckers threads before I started this one. I can't find any place where he mentions the part# on the front QA1.
I think it is the same as the ones he used on the back but it would be nice to know for sure before I make the order at Summit
Maybe somebody else can help me out?
Thanks and best regards, DK.
