Harnesses and the law

So my seatbelt supports are pretty much unsalvegable at this point. There is a support in the transmission tunnel that appears to be unreplacable and it has disintegrated on me. So my question is. Can I run a shark bar and harness get up legally in lieu of my seatbelts. It would appear to be much safer to me.

I would think they could look at it and see that it is much better than just the lap belts that came in the car. I'll be running a 5 point harness in mine.

I talked to the inspector and it should be alright.

Provided that we reuse stock seatbelt points, and everything is securly mounted.

Your seatbelt mounting point in the transmission tunnel can be replaced. I believe it is just rivited in. I could take a look at one I have from an old parts car.
