How do you adjust rich carb condition?
I have a quick fuel technology 650 dual pump with a vaccum secondary which was put togther at a high performance shop. It is on my 388ci stroker motor. The problem I have is that it runs super rich. Hurts your eyes after idling for a few. All my plugs are black and wet with fuel. I hooked up a vacuum gage as in the pic to adjust the carb but it did not really change as I adjusyed the 2 screws in or out. I turned them all the way in and it continued to run. I backed them out about 3/4 of a turn and you could tell a little difference but not much. At idle I have 12 HG of vacuum at 800 RPMs. The motor has good throttle response but blows dark smoke when you rap it and smells very gassy. Here is a list of the items in the carb that the shop sent to me.
Street/Strip 650 vac. pro #43650
Primary jet 66 sec jet 72 with extensions 6.5 power valve billet metering plate primary nozzle is #28. Accelerator pump is 30cc pump cam pos is orange, sec spring is silver. Hand blended and flowed venturi, 110 hi flow needle and seat nitrophyl floats dual inlets and non stick gasket .
The gasket between the base and throttle body does seem to leak some fuel on the linkage side. I do not know anything about carbs. What am I missing? Are some of the componets not right?
I did a compession test tonight and the readings were
1=240 2=240
3=240 4=240
5=240 6=235-240
7=240 8=215
Can someone give me an idea of what my compression ratio is in my motor?
Can someone give me some guidelines on what to do here? All help as always is appreciated!!!!
