here is my story and question...... my original 81 aircon compressor finally died last week so i head of to the shops to buy a new one. i buy what i think is just a direct replacement but not so. i found out that at a certain year the compressors changed the connection set up. my original compressor had a flat face with o-rings. the new compressor has a recessed face with 2 different levels and maybe a gasket set up. i have been told i cant buy the adaptor kit for it seperatly . what are you guys over there doing to hook up your old compressor lines to these newer model compressors? ...here is a picture to show my old and new compressors. any suggestions?????
went through the same thing last summer. a new one wouldnt work on my 79, unless i changed to new style hoses etc. so i ended up buying a replacement rebuilt one, its still working fine. and was cheaper. good luck.
Unfortunately this is a replacement and will fit many vehicles. The replacement seals should have come with the compressor. All the ones I have changed did. Four Seasons has a seal washer kit. The GM part # 2724887 seal washer kit. I don't have the Four Seasons #. I would take it back and have them look in the Four Seasons Catalog.

Like artsvettes said you should of got the new style seals with your unit. i live only a couple of miles from a pretty big A/C parts only house and if you need me to give me all your compressor and vehicle info and I can pick them up and mail them to you.
thanks for all your info. and wnmech that is a very generous offer but the problem is i am in australia, how would we do that? if i could just buy that adaptor part i would be happy. because of my location thats the only comressor replacement i could get unfortunatly. i got told here that the newer style compresspor is alot better than the original compressor i have.
Gingerbreadman Do you want me to check on the parts for you? I am sure they are only at the most a couple of dollars and they are small enough to put into a small mailing envelope which even as far away as your it would probably be cheaper and possiblly quicker than you can get them for. Let me know.
thanks wnmech. that would be awesome if you could do that . i cant even get the parts here so sounds like the best deal ever .i guess thats the downfalls of owning a foreign car in this country.. just let me know what i need to do and how much and stuff and i,ll work something out. ill pm if you like from now on.
