I have been following r44s thread for the sensor for the fans. Anyway I have decided to move my sensor into the thermostat housing. I have just had a bi-metallic probe switch that went thru the radiator below the top hose which had two wires and when the temp rose the switch closed causing amperage to flow and turn the fan on. I have been to A/Zone and looked at a couple of differant coolant temp switches and I had my ohm meter and probed the two pins from the sensor and they showed ohms. Am I corect I need one that is open until the engine heats up and it will close? What kinds of switches are you guys out there using and where did you buy them? Thanks.
The temp switch should be open when cold and pick up when hot, providing a ground which energizes a relay turning on the fans. At least this is the way mine works. My switch came with the radiator. I have also decided to place the sensor in the thermostat housing.

I bought one for my fan and that's how it works too.

I have the relay and everything there from my old set up but the two switches I checked from A/zone had resistance. Anyone else out there know which switch works best?

That one will work, but I think you will find that the fans will run most of the time. If you have a 180 T-Stat, it will open when the coolant temp at the thermostat gets to 180 and remain open as long as the engine is at operating temp. If your engine temp reads close to 200 which it will do most f the time, the switch will never shut off because the t-stat is open keeping coolant which will likely be above 165 all the time running over it.
