Default power steering question

I recently purchased a 75 L48 and am trying to work out a few quirks in it, the first is the power steering. It occasionally jerks to the right, even when the car is sitting idling you'll see the wheel slowly ease to the right, then jerk. The guy I got it from says the power steering control valve needs adjusted... does this sound right, if so, how is it adjusted? thanks for your help guys!

If you pull off the dust cap there is a 7/16" nut that is the adjustment. You want to get both front wheels off the ground so they can turn freely and start the engine. if your steering turns by itself, turn the nut one way until they stop(I forget which way is which, but you'll figure it out pretty quick), mark that spot or remember it. Then you want to turn the nut the other direction until the wheels start to move the other way and mark that spot. once you find both ends of that middle zone, turn the nut so its halfway between them.
Hopefully that makes sense, but if not there are a few good papers out there that explain it better than I can.

Go to Jim Shea's papers on Corvette steering. Read the articles on the control valve. It tells how to do it. Centering the valve is not difficult to do. http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com.

For your safety do not drive that car untill it is corrected. I have heard of the steering malfunctioning as you explaned while on the road. Never happen to me, however a couple of forum members stated it has with them.

The guy I got it from said that it would jerk to the right while driving, so thanks for the advice... it is sitting in the garage with the interior tore out at the moment, so no driving for awhile the adjustment sounds easy enough to do, but i'll read the suggested article too. thanks for the advice guys, i'm sure I'll be needing more in the near future as this is my first vette, and it does have a few issues to work out. I have power window issues to work out, a new wire harnes to put in, etc... thanks again!!!!
