Got a fuel gauge that is reading very high. I had just replaced the battery and when I started it, the fuel guuge was reading very high, then went to 3/4 full (correct) then went back to very high. Any ideas?

Hey, I'm in Columbia. Nice to see another 1977 Missouri member. Get up this way often?
Your problem might be a bad ground at the sender. Pull the rubber boot out from around the fill neck, and you can feel the ground wire and terminal off to the right of the neck. Try to push the terminal off, clean them, and re-attach it.
Thanks for the tip! I'll check that tomorrow. It very well could be the ground, I spent the winter looking for the tank sheet without dropping the tank.

Well your tank sheet won't be on the tank. In '77 they were on top of the tank shroud that gets bolted up into the car above the tank. It's a pain to get out, and the tank has to be removed to get to it. I found my build sheet up there but it was blank, as in all the ink has worn away. Bummer.
Anyway, you being so close, let me know if you ever need any help, and I'm sure it would be cool for you to meet the other Columbia C3 guys. We're a close knit group.
I took the ground wire off, cleaned it an replace. WOW! Gauge works perfect! I hadn't heard that about the tank sheet. I've looked all around the tank but I haven't dropped it,,,, yet. (wife thinks I'm nuts)
It would be nice to check in with other Mid-Mo Vette guys. By far I'm a rookie and learning more. My next project is to reskin my seats. I've got the leather skins, but it's been too cold to mess with.
Thanks again for the info!

Glad that fixed it.
Sam, one local guy, named Im Batman on the forum, is moving soon. You should get up here soon so we can all chat over a beer or five.
