Default Brakes pulling right-sometimes--advice please!!

Under 30 MPH, my '71 w/ power brakes stops straight and true, but over 30, it pulls right---slightly under normal braking, and much harder to the right under heavy braking. Tires are fairly new, no uneven wear---inflated to 30PSI all around.

The front calipers were recently replaced with quality rebuilt parts from a supporting vendor. The 2 front hoses, the brake booster and the master cylinder were also relaced at the same time. The pedal is firm---no air as far as I can tell.

IDEAS PLEASE

Could worn control arm bushings or other front end parts cause this condition?

As always....Any suggestions are always appreciated

If it's otherwise braking pretty smoothly, I'd say you still have some bleeding to do.

Suspension and/or brakes, and be damn sure to replace the brake hoses...they can shring internally and block pressure release of the brake fluid, clamping the caliper tighter than normal....making very uneven braking.....same as if you had a defect in one caliper, only worse as your are burning up the clamped caliper by driving it dragging like that....

suspension will shift if say you dropped an alignment shim....I use RTV black to glue mine in position so if the bolt loosens up, the shims dont' drop out, so all I need to is tighten it when the clunk noise comes around....

check the lower A arms and ball joints too....and steering linkage....

do not drive it much untill you get to the bottom of this....

Thanks all !

Even though the hoses are new....I might replace the right 1 just to be 100% sure that isn't the culprit..Naturally, that will mean I have to rebleed, so that should then rule that out

I'll look around and re-inspect the front end parts while I'm back in there...

I had the same thing on my 70, I replaced everything and it still pulled to the right under hard braking. I took the proportioning valve out and noticed the right port had a bigger ID than the left, I drilled the left port to match the right and now it doesn't pull. I don't know if thats the cause of yours check everything else first.

Do you think it is possible that the pads have become contaminated with brake fluid?

maybe bad rotor or bad caliper. reman parts can be bad from the start
Problem could be that the left front is not working enough instead of the right front grabbing too much.

I had a similar problem on mine. I too had rebuilt calipers, new hoses, new brake lines, new fluid, new shoes and new master cylinder from a supporting vendor. It turns our one of the hoses began to disentegrate and all this black crud enterred the caliper. The vendor replaced under warranty although I did buy a different brand of brake hose just to be sure it didnt happen again.

Make sure you do your testing on a smooth flat CONCRETE road.
Asphault roads frequently will be rutted and cause the car to pull.

Other than that, start replacing parts again!
( start withthe cheap ones ;-)

When was the last time you had your car aligned? A bad alignment can cause the car to pull under braking. And yes, it is possible for a car to track straight with a bad alignment. You could also check the brake pressure in each caliper to make sure they are same. It might be cheaper than replacing parts.

I honestly have not had very much time to dedicate to the Vette (I know...bad boy) but I have done and noticed the following

1) RT lower control arm bushings look pretty well shot
2) Replaced both front hoses again--just to be sure and pressure blead system
3) I have a front end kit and new VBP springs that I will install one of these days

Working full time, having 3 kids and the wife, doing house repairs/maint, and so on takes up 90% of my time, so .......I'll keep you posted as I get more done when I have more time.
