Default Perhaps a stupid question but.....

Is there any way to remove the fuel tank on a C3 (1981) without doing a frame off? My LT1 Project is hitting the fuel stage soon.

Its a bit more than loosening the straps. You need remove the spare tire bucket. Then there are 4 bolts (2 each side) that hold the tank support bar in place, then loosen the strap nuts. Put a floor jack under the tank and let it down a couple inches then go in thru the gas goor and cut the hoses (3) and disconnect the ground and fuel sensor wires. Then it will come out. Siphon out the gas first.

Sweet. Thank you for the replies. I want to redo the pick up to be at the bottom with an intake pump. but I do not have the space/time/money (Soldier's salary) to pull the body off. as much as I would like to. Thank you again for the replies.

Default why don't you try an internal cannister type pump??

Take a looksee at my pics off to the left for ideas. It's a lot less hassle than creating a sump.....and there's a multitude of internal cannister-type pump nowadays...and, on my 68, I didn't have to remove the tank...I did all the work from the top.
