Need Help With Auto Shifter Selection
Hey Everyone, Im Finally Biting The Bullett And Doing The 700r4. As You Know, The Stock 82 Shifter Will Not Allow You To Hold 1st Gear So I Would Like To Hear From Someone 1st Hand Which Shifter You Use And How It Emerges From The Console. Id Like To Keep The Console Stock. Thanks Ahead Of Time

If you want to continue the stock look you can file the stop down on the plate or buy a new plate from bow tie overdrives that is made for the job.
For some reason my 81 that I put a 700 in shifts right into 1st with no problem.

When I placed the BTO detent plate over the old one the only thing that was different was the placement of the detents for each gear. The overall length from park to first was the same.
The detents were a lot different so well worth the change for a little money. You have to take th shifter out and drill the spot welds out to remove the current detent plate. The new one bolts on in its place using the holes you drilled to remove the old one.
They also have a new shift indicator plate that sticks on to the current plate showing the gear positions.
77-81 Corvette Shifter kit
