Default Another TruFlex installation issue

I hate to start another front bumper install thread but...

I saw redwingvette's thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...hlight=truflex and had some of my own installation issues.

My 73's front bumper need some fitting. The top edge just needs some sanding to fit. The bumper's upper right & left edged line up. The lower right & left edges are off. The lower valance hole dimensions are off by 5/8" center to center. The lower front fenders do mot felx enough to take up the difference.

Has anyone had any experience with separating the inner fender from the outer panel, along the lower front, to allow for this condition?

I guess my only other choice is to build-up the bumper to match. I just would rather not have that much filler on a semi-flexible surface.

I agree. If you could tape the cover to the car and post some pics showing the problem areas and also a pic of the fender ends and center area without the cover in place it would be helpful. Were all the holes pre-drilled in your cover? Would you be able to swap the cover for a standard fiberglass cover? You should never modify the body to make a bumper fit.

No, the new bumper is not pre-drilled...A major plus.

The problem probably began when I installed a new inner fender prior to attaching the body and front clip to to a different frame. My old frame was trash.

I will post some pics later. I am hoping to resolve this without having to remove and re-attach the entire clip.
