Default Help with front seal garter spring please!

I am relpacing my harmonic damper. Everything is going ok. popped the old seal out and there is a garter spring hanging on the crank snout. Dumb question but just exactly where does this spring go? Maybe inside the new seal and around the crank?

Thanks in advance for the help

Gary

The new seal will come with that spring already on it. To make sure that it remains in place pack the inside of the seal with clean grease around the spring before you install it. the hammering can sometimes dislodge the spring.

Yup, I saw it when I took the new seal out of the package. Thank you for the advice to pack the seal with grease so it doesn't pop out when I tap it in. I can see where that can happen.

Thanks again for the help.

Best way to keep that spring in place.
