Default AC Evaporator Core

Can the evaporator core on the AC system be cleaned? I have my ac box out the PO had removed the ac system but the core was still in there. The lines were left open and have some dirt in them. Is there a way to clean it so I can reinstall? I am planning on putting the ac back on the car soon. I was thinking about carrying it to a radiator shop or something. Anybody else done this?

250-300 bucks for a new one.

A radiator shop that has a/c flushing equipment will be able to flush the Evap core for you. Just be sure they throughly remove flushing agent afterwards with compressed air.

Use this and some A/C flush solvent and you're in business. No need to remove the evaporator, just be sure to flush inlet to outlet and vise versa several times. I usually blow clean compressed air through it afterwards to make sure it is all evaporated out. Be sure to vacuum for an extended time before charging it. Oh yeah, do it in a well ventilated area away from ignition source and attach a hose to whichever is the exit to direct the solvent into a container or at least out of the engine compartment.
Oops, missed the part where you said you already took it out.
