When I tried to replace my emergency brake slide, the new one hit a bracket near the shifter the same as the old one. I checked the assembly manuel and realized I didn't have a console extension. I got the new ext. but my console doesn't have the grooves that I see on others to hold the ext. in place. The grooves aren't broken, it was made with out them. Does my early 68 use the ext., and what guides the slide ?? any help would be appriciated dave

First of all..........where did you get the console / parts from ?
reason i ask is most people / catalogue houses have NO CLUE regarding 1968's they list EVERYTHING as 68-82 & 99% of the time it's the wrong application as many parts are 68 ONLY !!! Center console & parts being two them...........it's the only year that has a design / compartment for the seat belts ...........My guess is you have the wrong part / parts !!!
The rear console came with the car. I don't know if it is original, but it seems to be unique because it does not have provisions for the extension. I recently purchased the extension from paragon but every catalog lists the same one for 68. Can anyone with a early 68 convertable tell me how theirs is set up. thanks again dave
