Default Power window gremlin - please help.

I've searched and read the thread results on this topic. A new relay should have cured it but it didn't.

PROBLEM:
Drivers side window will go up and down while just sitting in the car, engine off - key on. Start the car and driver window won't go up until I de-energize relay by unbolting relay from ground. Passenger side works fine in all the time. When using a volt meter on the harness at the console, there is no voltage reading on the contacts for window up but all other readings read 12 volts. I'm not using the switches at the console, I'm using a wire to manually make connection.

WHAT IT'S NOT:
Console switches (bypassing these)
Relay (tried new one)
Wiring through door (has been replaced)

Please help me if you can, can't figure this one out.

Jim

Sounds as if someone had trouble with the power feed to motor and found an alternate power source.

You should have same power source to both window switches.

Pull the fuse to remove power from the passenger side switch(red/white wire) and you should also lose power to the drivers side switch(red/white wire). If you still have power at the drivers side switch, trace wiring to find out where the power is being supplied from. Recify by powering from same source as passenger side.

You're right it does sound that way doesn't it? All the window wiring is stock except for extensions of the window motor wiring that I re-routed. I will confirm the single power source though. Thank you for the reply/suggestion.
