I have been putting it off, perhaps this year I'll finally get off the a$$ and put one in.

Oh...What tires are you running? I think I'll be using the old 15inch vintage w/ goodyears

Andy

The camera mount is clamped on my rollbar, on the diagonal traversing the main hoop.

69AutoXr we need to find someplace between Mi and Kansas and run against each other. Do you run the SCCA Peru event? Your car looks to be working very good. I have in car video but it is a Samsung and it has some strange format that no one can open if they don't have the software. I'll get one of my computer geeks to work on it.

I don't think I've ran SCCA down there before, just NCCC; but I run SCCA stuff too so I wouldn't rule out going down there for that depending on schedules. I wasn't planning on traveling much this year to catch up on paying off the last two seasons but I won't rule anything out, it would be great to run with you.

I understand the spending money with a set of A-6's running $1,200. We could try beating up on some Rally Cars!! Might even be able to get Danny Popp to get his 72 out.

I had the pleasure of meeting Danny and seeing him run his '72 at the Cincy test and tune in 2006.

Beating up rally cars would be fun...but they'd probably find some way to give them the advantage like running us first heat or something. You know how the SCCA (or should I say ICCA for 'import car club...') is...

Word that.... I wish we had NASA here in Oregon/Washington area.
Also, for track days/HPDE schools around here, it's all first time C5 & C6 Vette owners wanting to know "how fast my new car is."

You talked about 15 inch wheels and Goodyear Sportman slicks. Last year i used the Goodyear Sportmans slicks. I found the front 11X25X15 to have super front traction. I don't know how they compare to Hoosier A-6 or R-6 But the width is right between 275 and 295. This year I bought the R295 for the front.

69autoXr Great video. Do you have any video of someone filming you in action?

Not from this event, but I do have a short clip that somebody took at an event in 2006...

Your car really looks hooked up on the front end and it goes right where you aim it. If you could change anything what would it be?

I have some stiffer front springs-Daytona's-that I plan to install and see how they work with my current rear spring. Current setup is trimmed-550 fronts and VBP glass 420 rear. I would probably also install poly control arm bushings at the same time of the spring installation-I'm still running rubber bushings.

I would also like to try 17" wheels with 315's all around at some point.

I had to mod my lower front wheel wells to clear my hoosier 295/35/17 on 4 inch bs 10X17 wheels. Going lock to lock the tires hit the stock lower aluminum valance. I trimmed it back a good inch or so with a SawsAll.

The only guys running 315 fronts at the local track are the GT1 and T1 C-5 and C-6 Vettes.

Instead of being locked into a set front coil spring and rate. I really think that the coil over shock is the way to go. All kinds of adjustments I'm working out some bugs from mine right now.

I like the video, what group/class is your vette? Are you making to the National Convention in Tulsa this year? If you haven't raced at Hallett you are going to have a blast. It's a very fast track with some exciting elevation changes and blind turns.

69 autoXR...Definitely, your car is on rails. Mine looks like a squishy sponge comparatively. I still have the original front springs & softer rear spring. Perhaps the cut 550's and 420 in the rear is needed. But, I still use my car as a summertime daily driver. A guy has to draw the line somewhere....right?

GKULL...Sweet set up, can you post some pics of your wheel combo? Those are pretty fat wheels . Did you have to use offset TA?

Andy

I had 550# front and 400+ in back and the whole VB&P street Slolam kit installed about 20 years ago. It never bothered me to put over 100,000 miles on it with those stiffer springs.

No offset trailing arms. Just use 4 inch front and 5 inch rear BS

Class is 2A/B NCCC....I'm not going to make it to Tulsa. I wanted to go (specifically for Hallett) but the funds won't allow it.

Aluminum valance? I'm assuming you mean the trim that runs below the doors? I've seen a few autocross C3's using 315 fronts on 11's, I don't know what backspace they're using offhand but assume it's around 4.5". I currently have 11" fronts with 4.25" backspace, I could see needing to set them in a bit to get the wider tires to clear.

Coilovers are a nice option, but not allowed in the classes I run. With coilovers, I think you'd still have to take pretty much everything apart to swap springs, right?

Your car sounds strong for group II. I have heard several group III cars that don't sound that good. Too bad you won't make Tulsa, it's going to be a blast.

Is your car stock? I crack myself up.

Did you do that whole run in 2nd gear? How is your gearing set up?
