Ebay 1972/454/Convert
This is my second try to post this message so apologies if there is a duplication. I have been cybershopping for a steel bumper, BB, convert and came across this example on EBay. If you look at the engine picture (last down vertically) it appears that a rodent has been chewing on one of the fan blades. Also the rad frame seems bent at the upper right-hand position. Is this an illusion of photography, the ways things are with BBs, or is this a bent car? Appreciate your comments.

I didn't want to say "rat." OK, I just learned something. Thank you! BTW, what is the purpose of having a fan blade notched like that? Note that the other blade visible is "complete."

I like that, a rodent chewed on the fan :lol: That is a tipped fan that came only on 70-72 vetts with BB and A/C. That is a $400. fan blade. Thad :blueangel:

I'm with SuperFast80, I would get more details on the engine and mods. It has an aftermarket L88 hood. I bet the cruise control is a mistake, but if it isn't I want to learn more about it!!
The interior is the standard black vinyl and the verticle stitching is correct. The horizontal stitching was on the deluxe leather interiors. Doesn't have tilt/tele steering wheel. Interior in average condition. Looks like parking break console has crack in it.
All in all, the car looks nice in the pictures. Convertible LS5 Vettes bring big bucks ($25K or better) if they are original and in #1 or #2 condition. I would venture to say that if this '72 is what they say it is and the motor and transmission are in real good shape, it might be a reasonable buy up to about $13K - $14K.....Maybe a little more if it was a 4 speed!! :yesnod: :cheers:

You can never tell by pics alone. My exp. has shown that email pics always look better than with the naked eye. I did notice one thing: Take a good close look at the interior. The interior will give a very good indicator of how well the car was kept. Replacing a vette interior is big bucks, something that the average car dealer/person will not do just to turn around and sell it. In fact, an interior replacement costs more than an engine rebuild.
Also, an interior will give you a good indicator of how well the car was taken care of overall. I mean, if a guy lets his interior get trashed, didnt bother with keeping care of it, you can pretty well assume he didnt car about basic engine maintenance either.
Still some unanswered questions about frame rot, (trailing arm area), and condition of suspension

According to the vin, the car was originally a bigblock. Surprised their statement was so tentative - "appears to be an original bigblock" or sumpin like that. MJ

Thanks to All for the comments. I will not buy an EBay car unless I inspect it personally. And this one does not seen "right" enough for a $1,000+ trip to Texas. I do not find the interior excellent as described: MNJack, you are right, it is downright dirty. I know the L-88 hoods have a lot of appeal but I prefer the stock BB hood. The mileage is listed as 1 mile at one point and 67,xxx in another. They advertise many Corvettes but are not sure if it was a BB car. No indication of what BB is in the car now. Inner surface of front fenders do not seem to have a horizontal edge. For some reason, the Heebie-Jeebies have crept into me re this car.
Kruse advertises frequently and I am struck by their poor product descriptions and in many instances, just bad English. Does not inspire confidence. Perhaps that is not an indication of the quality of their offerings but attention to detail is of importance to me. Thanks again for the comments.
