I am installing a 200-4R in my 1980. Have Edelbrock Q jet and using
BTO TV Made Easy. Problem is that the TV cable bracket ane the throtle cable bracket interfere with each other (cannot install both
at same time). Anyone else had this problem and solution?
All you need is a different bracket right? A few guys have modified brackets like yours, by cutting it and welding in my material, and cutting new holes for the cable plugs.
I think you can even find brackets to buy on Ebay.
I used the original tv cable bracket at the back of the motor, And used the original Accel. cable bracket at the carb. This was using the original Quadrajet. Did you get the correct tv cable adapter plate for the edelbrock carb?
I had the same problem when I was installing a 700-R4 in my 76. Shopping for brackets online was confusing at best.
I went to the local junkyard and looked around until I found a vehicle with a 700-R4 transmission and a Q-jet carb. Mine ended up coming from an early 80's suburban, and it cost me a grand total of $5.
I really liked this approach because I used the bracket that GM would have used if my car came from the factory with a 700-R4 transmission.
If you go this route make sure you take careful measurements to make sure that the bell crank is the same on your carb as it is on the donor vehicle. It needs to have the same radius and angle where the TV cable connects.
The TV cable is one of those things you just have to get right.
