For smog legality sake, get the blower,i've owned a 142/144 and now a 177 weiand blower. The power you gain is amazing for the price and the streetability is better than you couldn't imagine. 4psi is nothing to laugh at especially when it makes waaaaaaaay more torque down lower and pulls harder higher up than a N/A motor and thats what we all want for a street car.
6psi dropped my chevelle from 13.8@98 on the GTEC PRO to 12.4@110. Thats what I did at the track aswell(12.42@109.8). Its a very good "Bang for the buck" mod.
You can get 7 to 8 pounds of boost out of the Weiand by changing to a smaller pulley. It willl be turning about 13,000 rpm at 6,400 I 've had mine on for 18 years. I had to change the front seal about 12 years ago and that is all. I change the synthetic oil in it about every 3 or 4 years. Best bang for the buck in my opinion. I like mine, just wish I could get more boost out of it

Did you have any issues with belt slippage running 8 psi boost?
I have allwas had the smaller pullley on mine. I have a 383 with bowtie heads and 8.75 c/r. I have a boost gauge. I imagine I have some slippage, but don't hear any belt noise. I can get about 7 to 7 1/2 lbs of boost out of it.
