Default Timing chain cover question

I bought this front cover off eBay to fit my 6 3/4" dampener on my 71'. It looks like the correct cover except for the extra tube welded to the pointer. What is it for and any idea what car this really fits (not correct for my 71')? It has a GM part number 10089670 which is a GM Service Parts number.

It is an insert for a remote sensor to check the timing instead of looking down at the marks with your timing light. Some of the later timing lights have this feature.

Definitely s 73 Malibu 350, but also many 70's others I can't remember.

The timing lite to fit this never did go over well other than at the dealerships, so it was seldom used.
