Default Steering wheel alignment

Hello. I replaced the power steering control valve, and now my steering wheel is off a bit (prior to this it was dead on straight 12 o'clock. Now it's at 2 o'clock.) Where did I go wrong, and how can I fix this? Thanks in advance!

No reason for it to change if you only screwed the valve off and re-installed the new one.

You may not have screwed your new control valve exactly the same number of turns onto the relay rod as your original. Or the tolerances with the new valve may have placed the stud just a bit closer or a bit farther from the threads.

You can recenter your steering wheel by breaking the control valve stud loose from the pitman arm, remove the cross bolt, and disconnect the hoses on the control valve. Then begin screwing (or unscrewing) your new control valve. One direction will make the problem worse, the other direction will bring your steering wheel back to center.

If you don't want to mess around with the control valve you can get the same results with the following;

You can recenter your steering wheel by loosening clamps on your tie rod adjuster tubes and turn the right and left side tubes exactly the same amount in the same direction. One direction will center your wheel, the other direction will make things worse. If you turn the tubes the same direction and the same amount you will not change your front wheel toe setting.

Thats assuming his toe is right now, which it probably isnt if that wheel changed like that. I dont know that screwing the valve out much is a good thing. The valve should be turned down until it will go no more and then aligned with the bolt slot.
