Default How Fast?

A Vette traveling at 5500 RPM`s in 4th driving into a 4.11 gear with rear tires of 235-60R-15`s would be going how fast? No its not a trick, I just wanterd to know the approximate speed it was traveling. Any idea? 120, 125, I dont have a clue.

Here is a calculator, but you need some more numbers to calculate it, Transmission gear ratio and tire diameter.

Stock 4 speed should be a 1:1 ratio in fourth.

235/60/15 is 26.1 inches tall

Gotta read the fine print! My bad.
Most of these calculators ask for tire diameter. I input it too quiclkly without reading.

Default Thanks Gentlemen,

I didn`t have a clue but I guess the buck O fore [104} sounds about right.

The trans is a M21 but high is 1-1 anyway right?

This was not a 1/4 time, just stood on it for a moment ot two.

'assuming' the tires are 27"-tall (a guesstimate? ):

5500 x .006 x 1/2 TH (Tire Height, or 13.5 ) div/by 4.11 = 108.39 MPH +/-

Hmmm.....so, now I know. My speedo is off by about......30 miles per hour. Good GOD!!! No wonder it felt...."Fast", lol.

And on another good note, I smoked a NEW Rustang GT the other day. God, that felt so good. A little sign that I am getting some things doen with this car.

It just really shows you how non OD trannys really suck. If Ironcross had a TKO 600 with a .64 OD he would be doing nearly 160 mph at the same 5500 rpm. I have driven my 434 ci vette for about 20 miles at over 6000 rpm in 5th gear and 4.11 rear end. It gets my speed fix in for a few days

In 6th gear at 6500rpm with my 25.5" tire and 3.55 gears I would be at 277mph. So I guess my car isn't gear limited.

And with 600hp on tap my car probably wouldn't be hp limited.

So the remaining factor would be the car itself. I'm sure it would catch air and/ or destroy itself before it hit top speed. Can you imagine having wheel bearing failure crawling past 160mph? --->

I'd say that you'd be HP limited around 180ish. Coefficient of Drag for the C3 is MISERABLE, despite the sleek look (it's the windshield's fault).

With the OD A4 in my old C5 it would hit 182 in 3rd gear but turn 1200 rpm and get 30+mpg in 4th.
