I have an 80 vette and the door locks don't work. Someone has put a replacement harness to the drivers side switch. The colors don't match the door harness. Does someone know which colors go to which pins on the harness socket that pugs into the swich. I know there is A B C D E. I've found the schematic on this site but it does'nt say which pin is A B C etc
I appreciate your help, but that does'nt answer my question. Those are the correct colors for my door harness but someone replaced the plug for the switch with different colrs. The replacement plug has: A (pink) going to org in door harness, B (tan) going to blk, C (blue) going to grey, D (brn) going to tan, and E (blu/wht strip) going to Lt blue. What I need to know is if this replacement harness was installed correctly. Are the door harness colors going to the right pins on the switch (A B C D & E
My vette has wiring has been cut and spliced all over the place so I know your frustration. Can you trace the replacement wires to where they splice into the original harness? If so you may be able to match up the replacement wiring with the original correctly color coded wiring. Just thinking out load.
Yes, the original harness where it is spliced is hanging out of the door. The replacement pigtail with the plug for the switch has different colors. What I want to find out is which pins on the switch or (plug) do the Grey, Tan, Orange, Lt Blue & Black go. The pins are lettered A B C D & E
I have a wiring dia. in front of me I do not have any way of taking a picture but I'll try to explain the best that I can.
If you hold the plug up looking at the back side to your right there a 3 holes and to the left there are 2 on the right at the top is the light blue wire next one down is the gray wire next one is the orange wire.On the left top wire is tan and the bottom is black I hope this helps .

OK Tony, We're getting closer. If I understand you right, mine is all wrong. Holding the plug & looking at the back, is the 3rd hole down on the right side in a little farther than the top two ? Are there any letters next to the holes on your diagram ? Like A, B, C, D, & E
If you get this twice some how I messed up so here goes again.
The part that I'm looking at is the part that plugs into the door lock switch so I'm looking at the holes not the wires but if you turn it around and look at the wire end then yes the bottom one on the right is lower than the rest and I'm looking at a dia.and there is no lettering so turn it over and look at the holes and it will probally make more sence and will be clear as mud! That is the way that I explained it with the wire colors. The wiring diagrams are in a booklet that has 73-82 in it and it is by the NCRS and I got it from RIK'S CORVETTE PART'S web sight www.RIKSVET.COM 1-888-745-7838 Hope this helps

OK, Thanks Tony & Frankenvette. It makes sense now. Whoever put the pigtail plug on isn't even close to what your saying. I'll cut it off & redo it & see what happens. I'm waiting for new switches from Ecklers but tomorrow I'll try it with the old ones. Maybe I don't need new switches. This all started because the drivers door would only lock but not unlock & the passenger door would do nothing. So if I get the drivers door wired correctly everything might be good. I'll let you know tomorrow. Thanks again
