I was wondering where you guys that have made the switch came through the firewall with the harness. I'm at that point where I have to drill a hole into the firewall for the harness.
I drilled the hole just above and to the right of the gas peddle and it routed pretty well under the radio. Used the standard length painless wiring kit. If I had it to do over, I would have bought the extra length kit and ran everything into the compartments behind the seats.

On an 80 you won't have the hole for the tach cable, but ut can go in that same place. I mounted the ECM in the jack compartment on the passenger side.

I tired getting mine up in the dash and attaching it to the bottom of the heater/ac exchanger. I didn't like those spots and had the short wiring kit, I made a false floor under the carpeting of the foot well area on the passenger side. Looks pretty good. Not as good as the jack compartment....
