Default 75 door lock problem

I just purchased a set of new door locks from Zip and I am having trouble putting in the U shape clip in the groove spacing to hold the lock in place. Please note that I can access the interior of the door with my hand, It seems as if the lock is not long enough, or I am not sure if the body of the car has been repaired before causing it to be much thicker than it should be. Please let me know the following: Is there a longer lock being offered? or Can I scrape the interior of the door with a grinder without damaging the fiberglass to thining the area of the lock? Thanks, Fred

When I replaced the locks on mine I had to use the old clips. The new clips were thicker and bent more. They just gouged the fiberglass when I tried to install them. Do you have the old locks to compare to? That will let you know if they are the same.

No, I do not have the old lock, I purchased the car with it missing.
