I looked at the System Max II kit for over a year. From all I found out it is a good all in one kit the cuts out a lot of guess work.
Price is excellent for aluminum heads and all the goodies.

I'm pretty sure there was a guy here a few months ago that bought this setup and had running problems with it under 2200 rpm? Anyone remember or is the person still out there?

1970 Stingray,
I had the system like Pat said. It was on a 383 and ran great..! I wish Holley made the system for more engines. The only thing is I bent 2 of the pushrods that came with the kit. Still to this day dont know why, but it happen. I would get it again if I was building a chevy engine.

I have the system and currently am running it with a blower. I was able to get a best of 12.88's in the quarter with out the blower. It is very streetable as long as you use a higher stall converter. I took some 100-200 mile sight seeing trips and still got about 15 MPG. The one area you will need to check is valve train geometry. The pushrods they send you were too short and caused premature guide failure. I am currently running a more aggressive cam (blower cam) with quality aftermarket lengthend pushrods. Dollar for dollar the Holley System Max II is the way to go. Deen

Sure, I'd run it wth a 4 spd. Make sure you get the right kit the base System Max kit has a very mild cam...if you want to make around 400 HP you'll need to get the System MAX II, it's still very streetable. If your going to start spending some time at the drag strip I'd change out your 3.36's for some 3:73's

Yeah, it's the System Max II that I was considering. I ran that setup with the Lunati cam thru the desktop dyno using Hooker sidemounts and it should put me over 420HP(fly).

Oh, I need to get the side mounts too! :D
