My ’68 has had the heat-soak/start problem for too long. I’ve overhauled my original starter/solenoid too many times in the past, but still have the problem on hot summer days.
I am considering a good and strong mini starter since most posts suggest them, but which ones will fit my ’68? I read about in-line and offset mounting screws and especially of the three marked terminals needed, for proper juice to the coil when cranking.
Any specific mini starters that have tested well would be appreciated!
I got this one. It's alot cheaper than most other mini starters and it works great. I've had it for a couple of years and drive the car almost every day. God bless, Sensei

Yeah I've seen that starter before but kind of wondered about it's quality. The ad makes it seem too fishy...like they're over-selling it. If you have it and endorse it then I trust you.
Get one from a C4, available at any parts store. Also the mid-late 90s pickups and Suburbans.
absolutely ... they have permanent magnet & planetary reduction. Also see GM p/n 9000852; it is for 168T ring gear. Permanent magnet starters are OE on just about all passenger vehicles for many years; when've you heard of a late vehicle having heat soak issues?
The ones markdtn & I suggest are not minis but they're very small, just as light & as durable or better.
Note: those we suggested and most all the minis recommended above will NOT have the "extra" terminal to run the OE points setup in a 68-74 C3 ... any local alternator/starter rebuilder shop can add it ... frankly, you should check w/ such local shop first ... there's a local alt/str rebuilder shop here in my rural market that sells brand new late pickup starters for $80.
Thank you all for your suggestions, and especially Jackson for his comment that all the suggested starters do not have the three terminals my '68 C3 needs.
I live overseas and we unfortunatelly don't have specialized shops, especially for rebuilding American made cars.
Any suggestions for a suitable starter with the 3 terminals for my '68 C3?

Right, I forgot to mention it, I do have a heat shield but on hot summer days I still have to wait 20 min to cool off before I can start it again. I have an L88 with 12,5 compression and that makes it harder as well.
