Default Flashback, The day the frame off started.

Getting close to putting the body back on. I pulled it off about 1 1/2 years ago. A lot of things have happened in that time. Almost died when a cutting disc exploded and have personally met a number of fellow forum members. If you haven't got out and gone over to another members house to just talk vettes, you don't know what you are missing. Sometimes I just look at the pics from the beginning to realize how far I have come. Thanks to Everyone on the Corvette Forum for all the support and info so far..
Neil in Tenn
This is how it looked before I started, what am I doing???

Neil, absolutely beautiful!!

What reference books did you use to do your project? Did I see in
the one picture the body being lifted off by four or five people? Seems
like it would require a hoist, but then again, I'm not sure of the weight.

Thanks for sharing!!

Thanks TFeld,
6 of us lifted the body of the frame. The inside was gutted out and the doors removed as well as the front/rear bumpers.

The assembly manual or AIM has been most helpful. Good place to put notes by the way. I also have a service manual and electrical manual. I bought other books to read at night, like The Corvette restoration book. They covered a number of things in general and give good pics of what the stuff looks like before you tear it out. I got a part interchange book but have never used it really. I have a number of general corvette maintenance books ie.. Haynes and so on. A few vette mags for articles and some original brochures for new features on my vette or options. Books on carbs, suspensions and building high performance motors. Never did get around on buying the book"How to detail your corvette". I need one that tells me how to find parts that have been laying around for a year or more still in the boxes :)

Neil - You have done an awesome job. I only wish in hind site that I could have had the good sense to do a frame off on my project. My hat's off to you, neighbor. Your car will no doubt be the envy of anyone who appreciates good workmanship.

Neil, that chassis looks super and I'm sure that looking at your pics that your vette will turn out the way you want it to.

I am eternally watching this project. The frame sitting there is just so beautiful I can't wait to see the completed job.

Out of curiousity, what do your neighbors thing of all that stuff in your driveway? :D

Us full frame restoration guys have to stick together. There is nothing like the baptism under fire that a project of this scope provides. My hats off to you on an obviously first class job. When you are done you will really have a one of a kind wonderfull vette. Keep up the good work I am rooting for you. Send us more pics as you make additional progress.
