The springs dampen the movement so the needle wont jump around magnetism is how it is calibration. There are madnetson the rotor

i imagine the calibration has something to do with changing the coiled up spring in there???

Like I just posted spring has nothing to do with calibration. You have to have a tool ie machine that changes the magnetism to adjust the calibration. As the magnets spin they turne the drum. Of this I am sure.

i was under the false impression that it used an effect similiar to what is used on hard drive heads.....

Hmmm...ok...so if I went in there with a magnetic tool, like I probably did, I coudl very easily have messed up the magnetism. I read low so i assume I took some magnetism away. Now...how do I put it back??? :confused:

Cool. Any suggestions for what kid of local shop does that sort of thing? I don't see "speedo recalibration" in my Yellow Pages.

Look under speedometer in the yellow pages in Kansas City the place was KC speedometer. But I think the name has changed anyway if you cant find someone to do it for you let me know and I will find there # for you
