Default Very simple question

At the risk of sounding stupid, what is the key lock for in the butt end of a '72 coupe?
This C3 stuff is new to me.
Thanks in advance.

I believe that is the alarm on/off switch.

Thanks. That makes sense why I can't find this on previous years C3's.

72 was the first year that the alarm was standard equipment.

From 74 up the key switch is located above the drivers side quarter panel emblem.

Oval key fits the alarm switch. If key is lost, probably cheapest way to go is to replace the entire key switch and keep an extra key. At least that is what I did with my 73.

Do all 75's have the alarm? I have read bits and pieces about this and cant seem to find where the key switch would be. is it on the inside or outside? I see I have a horn in the front of the car, and a set of air horns in the rear on the drivers side. if so does someone have a pic of where the key switch is located. thanks
