Default LS7 Off Road Engine

Ever Wonder how a real 1970 LS7 454 Corvette may have sounded like with a full 3 in. exhaust system, especially since none were ever available to the public? Well heres the engine and since I didn`t have a spare C-3 laying around I opted for one of my SS Camaros to be the body donor. A simple transplant since one BBC merely replaced the other BBC. All the rest remained the same 350/396 parts, including the cooling, cranking and charging systems, The chassis was completely up-graded to handle the HP increase including speed rated tires. Exhaust is supplied by Hooker Super comps into Walker race mufflers and finally a manual reverse shifting T400 into a 4.56 final gear with some dog dish hub caps.

heres 15 seconds of idle, you may want to turn the volume up.,,

Wally, your sound clip doesn't seem to work. I get a "no video" loaded.

Here's the same engine, with Hooker sidemounts and STS Baffles.

That's pretty good.. Do you have a general idea or guesstimate of how much the car weighs?

Edit: Does that still have the factory LS7 cam?

I dont know the weight except I have reduced the engine and front axle by 70 lbs. wirh the use of a set of donated Dart aluminum heads that we shined up to make them pretty..

The engine is the advertised stock 460 HP LS7 454 ci off road over the counter engine directly from its create, except. Intake, carb, distributor, and waterpump which are parts that didnt come with the engine, A stock 1975 HEI ignition fires the fuel supply from a stock pump to a 850 DP Holley mounted on a true' L88 polished and port matched intake. We made special deep grove aluminum pulleys to prevent tossing belts as a preventive measure with the 7K rpms. The valve train is stock with it`s original 580/620 cmshaft. Oil is either Kendall or Amalie 30W racing.

9 in slicks and 60 foot times of 1.6 +/- resulted in passes well below 11.99 that prompted critical scrunity of the car as running without the necessary requirement of roll bars. As a result i was asked to stop running trials. The 11.2`s were as good as I got before being disqualified for the under 11.99 class.

Thats about it,

And it`s also available.

Idling sounds nice but how about 7000 rpm shifting through the gears!
