When i bought the car it had a custom pioneer head unit...how do i remove this from the slot its in? it wont budge at all i checked behind it and everything. Do i have to take the whole bezel off and the radio at the same time or does the radio slide out without touching the bezel? im tryin to put a new pioneer in to replace this old one.
If I was you since it is after market, I would remove the center gauge cluster. Who knows how it was installed. If you try and force it out, you may end up breaking the center cluster. It shouldnt take long to do. The cluster is held in by 4 screws. 2 at the insdie top and 2 underneath where the shift console mounts up to it. Remove the side carpet panels get on the floor board and look up you will see the screws. Takes about 10 min to remove. good luck.

How about going out to the Pioneer Website and looking up your radio and getting the installation Instructions for a 1 DIN Height Radio? Usually there is a tool to unlock the Head Unit from the frame it sits in. All the units usually slide in and out WITHOUT having to take the center console apart after the initial installation (initial install of the frame usually entails pushing a bunch of tabs down to hold the Unit frame in place).
You may find that all you need are the two unlocking tools usually provided, but in your case not given to you when you purchased the car.
Or if your Unit is a Modern Unit with "OLD Style" Full Height Radio design. Then the knops actually hold it in place and you will have to remove those and unscrew the locking nuts and possible a third one in the back.

You slide these in between the head unit body and the cage it's mounted in. On each side, in the middle, just slide them in. They will push out clips that have snapped in place to hold the head unit in. Once the clips are pushed out you can pull the head unit out.
Be careful though, you don't know how much slack you have with the wiring behind it. Just curious, why is the head unit being removed?
Thnx ill try that...the unit is older and i want to put a nice new looking flashy one in there. im also putting an amp and woofer in the back as well...but i jus wana remove the radio first. then go from there...of coursei cant find the right socket size to get to the screws under the shifter console.

Okay, good luck with the exchange. Let me know if you need any help, or product suggestions.
