Aligning front bumper on a 1980
previous hit and installed it loosely prior to repainting.
I am having difficulty getting the upper rear portion of the bumper
(above the cornering lights) to align with the fender at the wheel opening.
If I install the original number 14 or 16 screws they fit snug as they go thru the bracket that is pop riveted to the side of the bumper. This does not enable moving the bumper at each side either inward or outward as needed to get good alignment with the fender. Only one of
these screws is used at the end of the side bracket. The rest of the
fasteners are 3/16" bolts.
Question: I replaced these screws with 3/16" carriage bolts. These
bolts fit loose enough thru the bumper bracket, to enable moving the sides of bumper enough to get good alignment with fenders.
Any problems with doing this?
