O.K. After much confusion between parts supliers and me, there seems to be a mistake somewhere as to mounting location and part number for my courtesy light timer on my 77. Can someone please enlighten me as to where this timer is located. When I had the dash apart, a flasher sized module was behind the tach, in line with the dash harness. If I remember correctly, it had two, two wire connectors going into it. I unplugged it and the interior lights went out. I assumed this was the timer. My AIM doesn't show this, and neither does my Shop Manual. Can a 77 brother help me out???
A parts guy said he doesn't know what I'm talking about when I describe the part and location. He also said the module behind the tach has the same part number as the flasher that's on the passenger side dash pad, and has only two wires connected to it. WTF? Sometimes my timer stays on for 5-10 minutes after the doors are closed. Thought I'd replace it.... It looks like a flasher unit only larger...right???
Sounds like you found it. Clean connections. Mine has stayed on longer than expected before. It might have to do w/ temp. since the Chevy book says it uses an internal heating element for the delay. Another thing to check might be for sagging doors esp. dr. side, you might need to replace hinges or clean or shim switch(es).
Can someone please enlighten me as to where this timer is located. My AIM doesn't show this, and neither does my Shop Manual. Can a 77 brother help me out???
You may be missing a page or just overlooked it. The TIMER ASM-COURTESY LAMP is located in the AIM at UPC 12L Sheet 8.1. I checked into this last spring to get mine working but, this feature was not added to my car. I've been unable to find the ASM to install in my Vette. If you have any luck, keep us posted. :yesnod:
