Default Headlight assembly removal for paint, yes or no?

Is it good practice to remove the headlight doors and paint them separately? I have removed mine and then put them back in but have not been able to get them lined up correctly. This has lead to scratches and rubbing of the edges of both the covers and the body. My car is primered right now but will be going to the booth in March. Should I remove them again? Also what about the driver and passenger doors. I have them off right now to prime the jams. Should I refit them prior to painting?

You will get alot of opinions on this one but for what it is worth. I removed the headlights, door, rear decklid, bumpers. EVERYTHING, and had it all painted off the car. Advantage is better coverage and no funky lines from improper taping. Disadvantage I have to put all that stuff back on very carefully. http://www.scubajkd.com/Corvette/Phase%20IV.htm

I recommend leaving the buckets in place when you paint. Remove the bezels to be painted off the car, but leave the doors closed. I don't know how it would be possible to get them reinstalled without scratching something along the way.

Mine's just finished being block sanded, by me, and is off to the paint shop tommorrow. Doors, hood, and headlight bezels are off the car but the headlight "buckets" are on and will be painted that way. Car looks like a big block dune buggy.
