Default Question about replacing the hard fuel line

It looks like I have a leak in my gas line. There was a puddle that looked oily but stank of gas on the passenger side. I had time to take a quick peek and definately saw a very slow gas leak coming from the hardline. Unfortunately due to weather and work I haven't had a chance to inspect it further. The line didn't feel wet up by the tank and it was dry closer to the framerail. I think there might be a hole rusted through. A replacement line isn't too expensive but is this the line that requires a body lilft to replace? Or is that the brake line? Like I said I haven't had a chance to get up underneath her yet. Not sure I want to drive her over to the lift either with raw gas near sidepipes.... Is this line easily replaced?

I replaced mine by cutting it into two sections. Then added compression fittings. It was not a fun project, I recall it requiered alot of verbal encouragement. But its been fine for at least 5 years.

I had a leak in the same place on my 77, just below the passenger door, it was actually coming from where the hardline goes into the rubber hose. I would check the hose clamp and make sure that it hasnt cut the hose apart at this fitting before you go changing something that doesnt really need changing.

The lines are held to the top of the frame with clamps and bolts. You can not get to them without lifting the body at least a couple inches. My tubeing rusted out and I had to replace it with some rubber hose as a temperary fix untill I got around to lifting the body off, (about 8 years).
When I had the body off I replaced all the lines with stainless steel.

The lines can be replaced without lifting the body. The return line is easier than the supply line, it does not need to be cut; just re-bent. Many people cut the supply line right at the kickup and put a union there. I have heard that some have gotten the supply line in without cutting it, but I could not.
