How beat up were your Dynomax Cerama-Coat Headers when you received them?
I dont mind all the scratches on the sides from shipping (after all, it is just exhaust), but there is a very visible dent or two on the tops of the primaries, right where you can see them in the car. I dont want to bother returning them, especially if they all get dinged somehow in shipping.
Mine have one or two dings and some scratches. I assumed that that was normal, but I've seen some people here return headers for a lot less... (In fact, come to think of it, I think someone tried to install them before, since the scratches are precisely where they would touch the frame or other obstacles when installed by a careless person....) Anyway, once they're on the car, it's very hard to notice these little imperfections.
Well, mine were not dinged or scratched when I got them. However, the first shipment I got ad 2 right side headers  . What was I going to do with those? :smash: OK...set returned....second set.....mounted again months later....left header good....right header way too high of a collector! Would have hit the floor. I think I got sent an incorrect right header. The left one lined up perfectly. I don't know if it is Jet Hot or Dynomax who is messing up my shipment, but removing and reinstalling headers 4 times is a pain in the butt (re-installing old ones so I can drive it)...I am switching brands next time. I have no doubt if I got the right ones they would have fit fine and looked great, but 2 tries is enough of a pain in the butt to me. I hope you have better luck with the fit.
Dont worry about those small dings or scratches. Once you get them headers good and hot once...you wont see that stuff anymore. They wont keep that super new shine once they heat up real good. They still look good though, and wont rust out like non-ceramic headers. I broke my new cam in with new headers at the same time. It was at night when I did it. Them headers were glowing cherry red. I think my carb was a little lean though.
I agree that the scratches are a non-issue after they have been used, but the small dent on top of the primary has a gouge that goes about half way through the steel, and it's right where they get very hot.
