I have noticed that the zz4 engines are very popular C3 replacements and some have even used LT1 and LS1 engines...But I have never seen anyone use the 350 Ram Jet fuel injected engine and was wondering why...Is it too tall for the Corvette's hood?...Or maybe nobody wants to mess with the fuel injection?...Is it too heavy or considered not reliable or unknown reliability?...Just wondering!...Thanks for any info!!...
I definatly believe the Ram Jet would cause hood clearence probs on a C3. I will add to your question though, and ask, has anyone looked into the GM Fast Burn 350? Its rated at 385hp and 385tq. Thats better than the ZZ4 isnt it?
OK I got it right now. The Fast Burn is a ZZ4 block with Vortec heads and intake.
Personally, I think it's a really nice engine, but for a "little" more money you could get an LS1. For less money, you get the ZZ4 with more or equal power.
There was a thread a while back on fit and I think the concensus was that it would fit under a stock hood.
I think most people will shy away from the electronics. Most guy's on the C-3 forum are Carb guys. Also the Ram Jet is not tunable. You just plug it up and drive.

I would love to have one, but I have heard their ECM is not tweakable. If they had a computer that was programmable so you could modify the motor, I would be very interested. It certainly is a cool looking motor. There are also versions of it with 430 HP from certain dealers.
Price is usually the factor.
I looked up the measurements for the Ram Jet 350 and it will clear. At top height it is about the same as my engine with the air cleaner in place.
I would love to see one in a C-3.
