I noticed a wet spot on my intake manifold below the carb. I thought initially it was the carb leaking. Actually it is oil. Looks like it is coming out around one of the manifold mount bolts. Not excessive, just moist. I wonder if I can just pull that bolt, and seal it? I didn't really think oil would come out the top part of the manifold like that. What say you! Cheers..77 Vette..
I use liquid teflon on my intake bolts to avoid leaks. Had a little leak the other day and found that I could tighten the bolt easily. No more leaks. It happens with the heat cycles. After all, you only get about 25 ft/lbs on those bolts.
I put Permatex on the manifold bolt threads before putting them in whenever I reinstall an intake. it seals them up and keeps the oil from wicking up the bolt threads and pooling on the top of the intake like you are experiencing.
Yous best solution is to do the same and only do one bolt at a time - remove it, clean it well, put a good dab of permatex or other sealant on the threads, reinstall bolt, torque it down to correct torque amount, than go to the next bolt. By doing just one bolt at a time you won't lose your seal on your intake as you could if you remove all the bolts at the same time
